Curriculum
Gonzaga University’s online Master of Science in Nursing program offers candidates the ability to expand knowledge through evidenced based and clinical practice oriented studies. Students may complete their degree in a two year time period or through part time studies. Gonzaga offers MSN instruction through an innovative technique based in complex adaptive systems theory to increase knowledge in advanced nursing practice, leadership, management, research, and teaching. Students may specialize studies within health systems leadership or nurse educator disciplines. Both specialties require students to complete residency requirements of two on-campus visits of one and a half days, each semester.
Courses for the Health Systems Leadership program (36 credit hours) include:
Leadership core courses: contemporary delivery of health care, theoretical foundations for advanced nursing, evidence-based practice, professional relationships in advanced nursing roles, and nursing
ethics.
Advanced nursing practice core courses include: nursing leadership development, information and quality management, communication and relationship management, health care management: financial stewardship and decision support/strategies; legal, regulatory, and ethical health care environments, and three practicum courses.
Courses for the Nurse Educator program (36 credit hours) include:
Leadership core courses: contemporary delivery of health care, theoretical foundations for advanced nursing, evidence-based practice, professional relationships in advanced nursing roles, and nursing

Nurse educator core course include: pathophysiology, curriculum development, teaching-learning strategies, assess learning and evaluation, current issues, and a total of three nurse educator practicum courses within levels I-III.
